Excerpt from the Saalbach – Hinterglemm local history book on June 6, 1924 – An important and eventful day for Saalbach
Josef Rainer Jr. opens passenger and freight transport with his vehicle—a flatbed truck with wooden benches on the cargo bed—on the route Saalbach – Zell am See – Saalbach. The municipal council, the schoolchildren with their teachers, and a large portion of the population waited at the Unterwirt for the arrival of the first passenger and freight transport vehicle. Cheers erupted as Rainer drove into the village with the modern “vehicle.” Many true and invented episodes are still told today about the first car journeys of Saalbach’s first automotive entrepreneur. Nikolaus Poschacher’s horse-drawn carriage had become obsolete; automobile traffic to Saalbach was now open.
1959 The year the business was taken over by his son Josef Rainer Jr.
With winter sports came the first tourists, and with them the first of countless trips from Zell am See train station to
Saalbach – Hinterglemm and back. During the summer months, trips were made with the summer vacationers to the Grossglockner and other attractions in the area.
Josef Rainer (our father) increasingly focused on freight transport
and earthworks and started the earthmoving company Rainer – Transporte in 1964.
However, passenger transport always remained active, especially during the winter months.
2000 Business management taken over by daughter Brigitta Rainer.
In 2000, we took our taxi company online for the first time on the World Wide Web. The subsequent increase in revenue proved us right in our efforts to use this modern medium.
From 2000 to today, the taxi fleet has been continuously expanded.
January 1, 2007 Merger of the taxi companies Brigitta Rainer and Josef Rainer Jr. into the company Taxi Rainer OG.
Our goal is to make the service for guests and locals even more service-oriented and economical than before. In winter, we are available around the clock with 8 vehicles for our passengers. Our success in local and long-distance transport, as well as shuttle service to airports and train stations, confirms the quality of our work.
2013 – Josef Rainer Jr. takes over business management:
Since then, Josef Rainer Jr. has been running the company.
